Hi, there! My name is Alexis and I'm a Senior Academic Advisor at the University of Kansas.

Prior to working as an advisor, I served as a Graduate Instructor for the English Department at KU, where I earned my M.A. in Rhetoric and Composition. During the three years that I taught English 101 and 102, I discovered how much I enjoyed working closely with students in order to help them cultivate their skills and interests.

Although I can advise students interested in any academic path, my specialty is advising Pre-Medical students. I work with students on everything from developing academic goals to practicing their medical school interviews. I even teach a class in the Spring especially for junior Pre-Medicine students---LA&S 492: Applying to Medical School! I also teach KU's orientation seminar, UNIV 101, as well as LAS 15525 at Ottawa University, Writing in the Disciplines.

If you want to learn more about one of our Pre-Medical tracks, please schedule an appointment with me using the above link.

In addition to my advising and teaching duties, I serve on a number of committees and volunteer as a workshop facilitator for the Emily Taylor Center for Women & Gender Equity.

When I'm not at work, you can probably find me cuddling with my adorable cat Tonks Kitty, reading the latest feminist literature, experimenting in the kitchen, or volunteering in the community. I'm also a captain in Lawrence's very own Kaw Valley Kickball League (go Pawsh Wash Filthy Animals!).
