Over the foundation of true friendship, we established a socially responsible Guatemalan company that follows Fair Trade Principles. Achiote was born in 2015 with the interest of bring development to communities in rural areas, add value in quality and design to Guatemalan ancestral craftsmanship, and display Guatemala as the beautiful country it is to the world.

We work alongside more than 50 artisans in 7 different rural areas of Guatemala to develop the materials that later we use to manufacture all of our products in our facilities.

Sustainability is at our core: By its nature our wool comes from an organic source, the sheep roam freely in the mountains. The preparation process is 100% handmade, the wool is natural with no bleach added. It's a renewable, natural, eco-friendly material.

The threads of wool and cotton are interweaved to tell the history of the ancient Mayan civilization. We transform these handwoven fabrics into unique products to offer people from all over the world a glimpse of what our culture represents, and provide beautiful, unique, handmade products.

Our talented artisans create handwoven wool fabrics with unique designs. These fabrics are treated with natural additives to ensure durability. Then we combine our handwoven wool with pure leather to create high quality, beautiful Achiote Bags.
