Actor Michael Maponga


Michael Maponga was born in Harare, Zimbabwe. He first caught his acting bug at a young age of 6 after watching a popular Zimbabwean sitcom called "Gringo". From there on he began participating in local and school theatre programs. He moved to Dallas, TX at the age of 9 with his family to seek better opportunities in the U.S. Michael being overall talented, excelled in the classroom and athletics such as football, soccer, and track & field throughout middle school and high school. He studied his craft of acting at the prestigious KD studios Actors Conservatory in Dallas, TX for three years. While in Dallas, he auditioned to be trained by one of Hollywood's leading casting director, Amber Horn who offered him a scholarship for her extensive acting courses. Maponga has appeared in National Print magazines for Dick's Sporting Goods and Nike. Michael has appeared in many television commercials over the years and worked for the NBC show "Friday Night Lights" as an opposing player in season five. In fact, Maponga was a player for the opposing team in the state championship game on the Friday Night Lights series finale. With a strong on camera presences his talents booked him a strong supporting role in short film 'The Symphony of Silence' which went on to win the Platinum Remi Award at the 46th Annual Worldfest-Houston International Film Festival 2013 for best short film. He worked on multiple films in 2013 set to premiere in 2014 including lead roles in , Fractures, Austin Anthology, Neverside. With undeniable talent Maponga is one of the hottest young upcoming actors in Texas.
