President & CEO, SpecOps Communications http://twitter.com/adamhandelsman Adam Handelsman, President of SpecOps Communications, founded a full service communications firm dedicated to delivering precision accuracy and actionable results. A veteran hands-on generalist who understands today's evolved media landscape, he knows how to secure coverage for his clients. With a fortunate career, he believes… it's about what people say about you, not what you say about yourself. Over the past 20 years, Adam has worked with incredible people, brands, companies and organizations, and even a few of his personal heroes. At Hearst Books in the early 90's he represented Ray Bradbury and Dick Schaap. A background in both the client-side and agency worlds has enabled him to work with a diverse group of emerging brands to Fortune 100 corporations. Prior to SpecOps, he served as Managing Director of Media at LHA, where he directed the media programs for the firm's public and private accounts and managed the firm's communications. Before joining LHA, he served as the EVP of Strategic Media Relations for Cohn & Wolfe and prior to that position, he was the EVP at 5WPR. He was instrumental in the firm's dramatic growth. In addition to overseeing the management and account services at 5W, he spent his time developing staff, and providing senior level strategy on: Patina Restaurant, Evian, Phillips Van Heusen, NICE Systems, Chef's Diet, Bradley & Montgomery Advertising, iSkoot, Scanbuy, Smart Tuition, amongst others. Over the course of his career, he has worked with Starbucks, World Gym, Shopping.com, ProLink, Guardian Angel, Cardinal Health and EDS amongst others. In the dotcom era, he directed the PR for Netpulse, creator of the Internet Powered Workout, headed by Intuit founder Thomas Proulx. Before that he held positions at two NYC PR firms. Adam began his PR career at the Avon Books, a division of the Hearst Corporation. In October 2007, he was appointed to the Board of Directors of PRSA's NY Chapter.
