A former addiction counselor with House of Mercy in Des Moines, Iowa, Addison McFerren has a strong interest in addiction therapy. As a counselor, she helped parents arrange medication evaluations and psychological testing a well as led summer day-treatment groups and therapeutic activities. In addition, Addison McFerren consulted with and trained skilled medical and mental health staff.

Aside from her passion for therapy, Addison McFerren is interested in child psychology. Her own daughter was diagnosed at age 3 with autism, but after doing some research and speaking to specialists, Ms. McFerren realized that her daughter could have a bright future and could lead her own life.

A graduate of Central Lee High School in Donnellson, Iowa, Addison McFerren earned her associate degree in psychology with a minor in computer technology from Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids. She currently attends Iowa State University with a concentration in psychology. During her time in high school and college, she has maintained honors status.
