Eco-Dramaturgy Researcher, Theatre for Development Practioner, and Applied Theatre Research

Adedire Timileyin is a Dramatic Arts student at the prestigious Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Nigeria, whose academic and creative pursuits are situated at the intersection of Applied Theatre Research, Theatre for Development (TfD), and Ecodramaturgy Research. As an emerging researcher and Theatre for development Practitioner, he is deeply interested in exploring how theatre can function as a transformative medium for environmental advocacy, community engagement, and sustainable social change.

His work focuses on the possibilities of participatory and community-based performance in responding to contemporary environmental challenges, with particular attention to plastic pollution, climate action, ecological consciousness, and sustainability. Drawing on applied theatre methodologies and ecodramaturgical perspectives, he seeks to develop innovative, research-driven approaches that connect everyday environmental realities with collective action and behavioural transformation.

Timileyin's research and practice are guided by a commitment to advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 13 (Climate Action) and SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities). He is currently developing the Eco-Theatre Initiative, an emerging platform that explores theatre as a catalyst for environmental education, civic participation, and sustainable development.

Beyond academia, Timileyin is committed to continuous learning, digital storytelling, and interdisciplinary collaboration. He is passionate about challenging conventional perceptions of Theatre Arts by demonstrating its relevance beyond performance as a rigorous field of research and a powerful instrument for education, policy engagement, environmental stewardship, and social transformation. As an aspiring scholar and practitioner, he welcomes opportunities to collaborate with researchers, institutions, and organisations dedicated to advancing innovative research, sustainable development, and community-centred change.
