Aderonke Thompson currently holds the prestigious European Research Consortium in Informatics and Mathematics Fellowship, endowed by Alain Bensoussan, as a research scientist in the Network Security team at the VTT Technical Research Institute of Finland. Her current work focuses on Trustworthy Machine Learning and cybersecurity solutions to address emerging threats and challenges in the digital landscape and Artificial Intelligence era.

She was a Co-Investigator on an AHRC funded research project at Northumbria University, Newcastle, United Kingdom (2020) and Visiting Scholar at the Centre International de Rencontres Mathématiques (CIRM) in Marseille, France; and the International Centre for Theoretical Physics in Trieste, Italy (2014).

In January 2023, her contribution in the Cybersecurity domain was recognized by The Guardian, a front leading newspaper in Nigeria. Since August 2023, Aderonke Thompson has served as a mentor in the Tech Nordic Advocates (pan-Nordic/Baltic Tech/Startup ecosystem), providing guidance and support to aspiring professionals in the tech startup ecosystem. Her dedication to mentorship reflects her commitment to fostering talent and promoting diversity in the cybersecurity and tech community at large.

She has served as a mentor at the 2020 Neuromatch Academy, UK. Aderonke Thompson served as the pioneer Head of the Cybersecurity Department at the Federal University of Technology, Akure (2018-2022), and attained the rank of a full Professor.

Aderonke serves as a Board member of VigiTrust GA, Dublin. She was recognized as one of the Top 50 Women in Cybersecurity in Africa in 2020 and also on the list Top 100 Cybersecurity Women to Watch in Africa for 2024 (T1CWWA) by Acyberschool, Kenya; she holds a PhD in Computer Science from Federal University of Technology Akure and attained the rank of full Professor. a Cisco DevNet instructor and holds certifications as an ISO27001 Lead Auditor & Implementer.
