Adjua Starks
Former Assistant Dean at Barnard College in New York
An educational administrator with 17 years of experience, Adjua Starks most recently served as the assistant dean for pre-health advising and academic assistance at New York City's Barnard College. In addition to individually advising students and alumnae applying to health professional schools, she chaired the Pre-Health Professions Committee and made significant improvements to the school’s Academic Assistance Program. Previously, Adjua Starks was the associate director and public interest coordinator of the Office of Career Services in New York Law School’s Department of Professional Development.
Ms. Starks earned a bachelor of science degree in human development and family studies from Cornell University and a juris doctor degree from Cornell Law School. A past recipient of the Bureau of National Affairs Law Student Award, she was active in the Black Law Students Association and the Cornell Journal of Law and Public Policy. When she is not working, Adjua Starks enjoys cooking, attending theatrical productions, and reciting her original poems at local events.
