Livestock Farming and Consultant in New York
Hello and welcome. I am available for livestock consultation in the Northeast US. I am happy to consult with you by phone or travel to your farm, nature preserve, or backyard.
I have 15 years of farming experience in the US, most recently at the Stone Barns Center for Food and Agriculture, a sustainable farm and education center in Pocantico Hills, NY, where I served as Livestock Manager for over 9 years.
My areas of expertise include raising livestock in accordance with sustainable principles, operating a slaughter facility, and managing the storage and sale of farm-to-market products.
Raising livestock is my primary focus. I have extensive experience in the husbandry of a variety of animals, including sheep, goats, pigs, turkeys, geese, and chickens -- both meat hens and laying hens. My
responsibilities have included egg incubation, the breeding and lambing of sheep, the intensive care of newborns, the creation of brooder areas, management of pastures, and multi-species rotation.
I am HACCP certified in food safety procedures, and am highly experienced in all aspects of poultry processing from harvesting to evisceration to breakdown to packaging.
I've also managed the preparation of farm products for sale to the public through farmers markets and farm stores, a role that includes sending animals to slaughter, pricing meat cuts, cleaning eggs, and maintaining clean processing facilities.
Originally from Jamaica, I earned a B.S. in Animal Science at SUNY Cobbleskill School of Agriculture and Natural Sciences.
