Student in Athens, Georgia
My name is Adrian Popescu; I am a student at the University of Georgia. I am originally from Romania and have been in the United States since 1999. When my family originally moved here my father found work in Michigan. We were by no means poor coming into the country, however we arrived with nothing except the clothes on our back and a suitcase each. Since then we have moved across the United States multiple times between Michigan and California and within different parts of the states. During this period traveling it was a joy and pleasure to be able to see the beautiful scenery of the United States through a car window as my family did not like flying. We finally settled in Kennesaw, Georgia around the time I was turning ten and just beginning to experience the joys of my adolescent years at Pine Mountain Middle School. Leaving middle school felt like an amazing turn and step forward when I arrived at Kennesaw Mountain High School. Here I would create more friends and memories to hold dearly. Throughout my four years there some of my best memories are of the NJROTC program. In this program I made many friends and was put also through many difficult situations and began to grasp the need for responsibility in the future. Overall the program effected my sense of self and what I would like to do in life. I hope to graduate from the University of Georgia with bachelors in computer science and then serve with the Air Force or Navy in some capacity that takes advantage of my degree.
