Adriana Lee
Tech Reporter in San Francisco Bay Area
I may look serious here, but don't let the photo fool you. There's a deep appreciation for the hilarious and absurd beneath this deadpan.
After seven years covering tech for the fashion industry at Women's Wear Daily, I shifted my focus to the travel sector as a technology reporter for Skift.com, an influential media outlet and research firm for decision-makers at the world's top airlines, hotels, online trip booking platforms and more.
What strikes me about travel is the many roles it plays. For individuals, it inspires and connects people. For societies, it's a canary in the coal mine. That's because, when changing forces sweep in, from climate to macro or micro economics, travel tends to feel it first.
At this point, I suppose I should say more about myself. (The site is called About.me, after all.) Here goes:
I'm probably best known for tech reporting, having written for multiple technology sites. What people may not know is that I've also covered food, fashion, the performing arts, lifestyle, personalities and small business, with clips in Time Magazine, The Philadelphia Inquirer, Dance Spirit magazine, Footwear News and numerous other titles.
All of that came in handy at WWD, where I tracked the impact of artificial intelligence, mixed reality, blockchain and more on the fashion and beauty sectors. I now bring that sensibility to Skift. Turns out, fashion and travel have a lot in common. They're both culturally rooted industries that people care about — and they're both grappling with breakneck change, especially in the AI era.
If you have any tips, leads or announcements to send my way, fire at will. I'm at alee [at] skift [dot] com. (Signal: @adriana.133)
But please — make sure it's really, really good.
