Diana Williams is a native of Columbus and graduate of Mifflin High School and Ohio Christian University. Diana is an Ordained and Licensed Minister and the Founder and Executive Director of Programs for Ohio Women Against Domestic Violence. Diana is responsible for the organization, development and support of a grassroots, nonprofit of 22 domestic violence survivors, who are volunteers and now trained domestic violence advocates. Diana is a Certified DV-Advocate, Certified SA-Advocate, trained in trauma support, mental health first aid and cultural sensitivity, she specializes in supporting Women of Color by providing culturally specific programming for those who are most vulnerable or at-risk of being a victim of a violent crime. Diana is also the Founder of The Purple Healing Hands Hub for victims and survivors of domestic violence, located in the South Linden Community. With the support of OVP, The Hub is the first to provide access and resources within the community where the violence occurs. Diana is also a South Linden Area Commissioner, where she serves as the Health and Wellness Chair and also the Chair for the Linden Landlord Association. Currently, Ohio Women Against Domestic Violence is proud to launch the SafetyNet Supportive Services for Seniors aged 60 and up, who have experienced abuse or neglect as a result of domestic violence. Diana has been an active VOICE over the past 3 years for those who suffer in silence based on her own experience. Speaking to our youth on health vs unhealthy relationships, Diana is a mentor for the Columbus City Police TAPS Program. Honored, OHADV Officers have had the privilege of speaking to our police officers during STOP training about biases and racial issues related to domestic violence and women of color. By leading an annual DV Rally in October, to spread awareness of domestic violence. By leading an annual walk in May to remember those lost to domestic violence. By hosting an annual survivor celebration in October entitled PURPLE Day in recognition of those who have survived domestic violence, Diana will continue to promote safety, healing and unity within our most vulnerable communities in order to stop domestic violence.
