Wanting to do more - the only race that never ends. I must confess, I do not fully understand what it actually means, not yet, but I like to consider it my motto. I choose to see it as a way to put your mark in this world. I choose to look at it as a wish to be one of those people who can bring that change that matters for more than a few people. Big words? I say no. Hard to make it? Probably. Impossible? Never.
I question. I am that person that asks herself and the ones around her what if? All because I want to be sure of the things that are becoming a part of my life. And I do mistakes, lots of them, but fifty years from now, I want to look back, sipping a hot vanilla tea and smile at the memories. Smile at the people that I’ve met. Smile at the life that I’ve lead. Laugh at the FINISH line in front of me.
Current status - I am studying Journalism and Advertising at University of Bucharest. For the last two years, I’ve been a member of the NGO, Volunteers for Ideas and Projects, working there as a PR Coordinator and Marketing Executive. Communication changed my life and it brought in it many amazing people that I can only be grateful for. Do I like what I’m doing? No. I love it. And I am happy that I made these decisions.
Amongst them, there was a particular one - I’ve spent my last summer as a Work and Travel participant and all my answers were.. well, they were amazing. I liked it so much - the friends that I’ve met, the places that I’ve visited, the stories that I’ve lived. I wanted to help others to live them too and then get their own answers about it.
And then The Sustainable Diplomacy Project came into my life and answered not only a question, but one of my dreams too. I am happy to be a part of it, in a place that allows cultures to connect. Romanians and Americans are different, only a dreamer would say otherwise - different mentalities, different lifestyles - but we are also the same in lots of ways and we could do so many great things together! I do not question it (surprise!) and, next to my colleagues, I will do my best to see it happening through this project.
My name is Anca - Elena Costea, I am 21 years old and I have a dream - to make the The Sustainable Diplomacy Project a winning race. Together.
