Aegean Navigations

Aegean Navigations Maritime Company was founded back in 2003 by people with consolidated shipping experience of more than two generations. The company has owned and managed several conventional pax/ro-pax and fast VIP transfer ferries, in commuting, touristic, and subsidized routes mainly mainly between the east-Aegean Sea islands, Greece.

Currently, Aegean Navigations owns a specialized Ro-Pax ferry. The vessel, (ex-Anholt), was built as an Ice Class High Standard Ferry in Denmark, in 1981, under the strictest rules of Bureau Veritas. Since 2005, she operated in Eastern Aegean intra-islands under tourist, liner and/or long-term subsidized routes by the Ministry of Merchant Marine, Greece.

The vessel has been occasionally chartered for special operations and emergency evacuations, and she has been upgraded lately to fully comply with the latest Eurosolas Category B rules and is classified by RINA.

This highly versatile vessel is one of the rarest examples of this size, garage capacity, and Class which makes her the perfect mode of transportation, all year round, for commuters, tourists, goods and roll cargoes, or efficient operations, in low-infrastructure ports.

e-Spirit is committed to be the first large scale electrification-converted ferry in Greece and one of the first in Europe.

The Government is forming the legislation that will allow the ferry to operate as fully electric, as the funding has been pre-approved subject terms and conditions to be accepted by the shipowner and the Stakeholders.
