Hi, I'm Anwen,
I've spent the last couple of years working and seeing as much of planet earth as possible. I love travelling and have travelled extensively around Africa, Asia, and America.
Last year, I travelled around Japan, road tripped across the USA and Canada, went camping around Norway, and explored Indonesia.
This year, I'm taking it easy, and replenishing the coffers. After fulfilling so many of my travel related goals, I don't have the same drive to spend most of my time on the road. I wanted to see as much of the world as possible - before I am old and decrepit. I feel like I've at least tried.
I used to prefer working on fixed term (rather than permanent) contracts for the increased sense of freedom and flexibility. I still love travelling and will continue to do so, but it's no longer the main focus of my life. I'm now trying to figure out my focus for the next 20+ years. I want to help build a company that I believe in and which will have a positive impact on the world.
I grew up in Wales, and moved to London, the greatest city on earth, to study law at University College London (UCL).
I qualified as an IP and commercial lawyer, specialising in media/digital technology, and have been helping people at companies like Walt Disney, ESPN, Reckitt Benckiser, BBC Worldwide and FremantleMedia do deals, and minimise risk.
Having spent most of my life to date behind a desk, I know how difficult it can be to visit the places you've always dreamed about visiting. Saving money, paying off your student loans, figuring out whether to take a sabbatical, or resign from your current role; planning where you want to go; making it happen - it all takes a lot of time and effort.
Mine hasn't been the smoothest of rides, and I've made lots of mistakes along the way. But, I've managed to see and do a lot of what I've dreamt of.
I try and spend part of each year visiting family and friends in Australia, mainly in the Barossa Valley, (great food and wine there!), Adelaide and Sydney, (although it might be Melbourne this year).
It's cool that you're reading this. Thanks for visiting, and don't forget to say hi.
