Àgata Olivella

Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain

I have a degree in Catalan Philology, a Postgraduate in Journalism and digital video and a Master in TV and film script. Trained in the audiovisual field, at present I work as a freelance journalist, writer, screenwriter and filmmaker.

At the end of the nineties I had the opportunity to experiment with documentaries in BTV (Barcelona Televisió) and to start working on one of my favourite TV programmes, Thalassa (TV3, Televisió de Catalunya), a documentary programme about sea and humans beings that work, live or spend their free time close to the sea. During that time I also worked for communication projects concerning cultural and gastronomy matters.

I have written books for companies and institutions about gastronomy, music, extreme sports, and for Barcelona city Council. In the field of screenwriting I have worked for different companies related to TV projects, websites and cultural events. I have been involved in the adudiovisual direction of the MOOC (Massive Online Open Courses) of the Barcelona World Race Ocean Campus. An e-learning project related to the oceanic sailing.

I’m truly interested in documentaries and all new media projects. Interviewing is one of my greatest assets and the sea one of my stronger passions.
