Born in Puerto La Cruz, Anzoategui State, Venezuela, on September 22nd. 1966, on a very hot mid-day, to Sicilian artist Angela Carbonaro and also Sicilian salesman Michel Angelo Zurria (born from two angels...what can I say!).

First studies were in his hometown in the eastern part of Venezuela, before moving to Maracaibo (the opposite extreme of the country) to study and graduate from UNICA University in Mass Communications.

After 5 years living in Caracas being a Language Instructor and an Entertainment/Cultural Journalist, Agatino took off to Miami, FL. USA to continue his personal journey to becoming a full-time Filmmaker.

In South Florida he directed, produced and edited several short films as well as some music videos and numerous infomercials.

His short films are:

  • EL VIAJE SIN RETORNO DE MARIALMA CENTENO, which he produced before leaving Venezuela, competing at the Festival de Cine Super Ocho, in Punto Fijo, Venezuela, and then at the Cinemateca Nacional in Caracas.
  • INTERVIEW ME, winner of Best Short, Best Director and Best Actress (Julie Ferrer) at the Miami Life Awards 2011.
  • LA MESA ESTA SERVIDA (Dinner is Served) winner of Best Short and Best Actress (Ika Santamaria) at the NOLA Series in Miami, FL. and Achievement in Directing and Producing at the WITAM ceremony in Miami, FL. Nominated for Best Director at the Miami Life Awards 2012, and official selection at the Miami Short Film Festival 2012. Nominated for Best Local Short and Best in Festival.
  • FAUN MOON. Nominated for Best Actor (Luke Grande) at the NOLA Series 2013.
  • CLOVIS, Winner of Best Supporting Actress and Best Child Actor at the Hollywood Blood Horror Festival, 2019.
  • AUREA, winner of Best Screenplay at the Hollywood Blood Horror Festival 2019 as well as Best Steampunk short at the Miami Underground Film Festival, and Achievement in Direction at the Sci-Fi Miami Film Festival.
  • INTERVIEW WITH MARILYN, which has won more than 24 international awards in Florence, Venice, New York, Los Angeles, Las Vegas and Fort Lauderdale.
  • LOVE DISTANCE, which has won Best Ensemble at the Acting Awards Festival in 2021, and Best Actress at the London Indie Short Film Festival in 2021.
