“Esse quam videri”

I have never studied Latin. I saw this on a college professor’s email signature and adopted it as one of my own. It means “To be rather than to seem.” I live by this.

I am my version of a mom. This means I am also short order cook, driver, referee, EMT, and life coach.

I am my version of a Realtor. This means I act on behalf of my clients with uncompromising integrity. I do for them what I would do for myself with even greater care and strategy.

I am my version of me. I am May. My last name means “preacher”. If I was so, my message is “Act with uncompromising integrity.”

I have always had an entrepreneurial mindset and an unending desire to learn more. My foray in sales, marketing, administration, and media buying included earning my Public Relations-focused B.A. in Communications from Cal State Fullerton in the middle of all of it.

When my first child was born (after I mostly returned to my wits), I thought to myself, “I just joined the moms’ club.” This is an unimaginable life-changing event that pulls you to the ground, humbling you, and at the same time sends you on a high from which you can never retreat. It was then that I came to fully understand and appreciated my own mom and all the moms in my life.

I eventually joined an actual club for moms and came across an event barely noted on a calendar. It simply said, "peace. love. swap." This led to me organizing about 2 dozen community events in 6 cities in Greater Los Angeles over the course of the next 4 years.

As a Realtor, I have come full circle to what I used to daydream about as a marketing assistant finishing my last semester of earning my Bachelor’s. I used to say I wanted a regular, “stable” job and an unstable fun job. Guess what? I got both! The “unstable” fun job that I used to daydream about was selling houses. I didn’t know it then, but my stable job would be Mom. I can’t even tell you how much I truly love both jobs!

In my “spare” time, I volunteer with the Girl Scouts and school PTA. You might also find me on AYSO fields. When schedules allow, I enjoy hikes, time with friends, and taking my kids on playdates.
