Hedya Chibane

I was born in a land far away where palm trees sway softly on a warm, breezy day and neighbors are family, inviting you often for a glass of hot, mint tea-- where camels sometimes roam the streets and all shops close for Friday prayers. My family and I moved to the bustling city that never sleeps when I was five years old. I spoke no English but within a few months, I had picked up an incredible amount. I quickly learned that, much like my maternal grandmother and my father, words were my thing. Writing has been my passion since grade school and while I sometimes don't dedicate the time and energy to it that it deserves, it will forever remain a constant in my life.
