I retired as an Information Manager in the United States Air Force after 20 years of service at the rank of Technical Sergeant. While active duty, I completed an Associate of Science in Information Management degree from the Community College of the Air Force and a Bachelors of Science in Business Management from the University of Phoenix. I was honored as Communications and Information Professional of the Year 2000, Air Force Weather Agency, Offutt Air Force Base, Nebraska, one of my highest achievements during my time in the service.
I have six years of experience with state agencies as a Disabled Veterans Outreach Program Specialist (DVOP) with the Oklahoma Securities Employment Commission and as Coordinator of Assistive Technology with the Department of Rehabilitation Visual Services Division. While looking for recruits to start a work study program for my unit, I was recruited and became a recipient of a Rehabilitation Service Administration Scholarship (RSA) where I completed dual Masters of Science degrees in Visual Services Rehabilitation and Rehabilitation Counseling through Langston University. I have obtained an Assistive Technology Applications Certificate from California State University of Northridge. Also, my training as a National Veteran Training Institute (NVTI) facilitator has allow me the pleasure of teaching Transition Assistance Programs (TAP) as well as sharing information as an Assistive Technology guest speaker with veterans, agencies and universities throughout the state of Oklahoma.
I am the mother of Jarren Carter and I love to read, shop and travel. I have a desire to write books for children and for fun.
