Ahmed Elgheur exhibits a drive to excellence and an outstanding commitment to developing renewable energy sources. Having transformed a passing conversation in his New York City cab into a business concept, he has built a globally expanding renewable energy company. Now, Mr. Elgheur is Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Elger EnergySystems in New York and Frankfurt, Germany. He will open his third Elger EnergySystems office in Morocco in 2012.
Sitting in his cab talking to a stranger on a New York City street changed Ahmed Elgheur’s life. The passenger financed overseas solar energy projects, and the topic hit home with Mr. Elgheur. As he discovered the benefits of renewable energy for people, the planet, and the atmosphere, he started on his current life path toward ending consumer reliance on fossil-fuel energy resources. As he worked as an intern for a year at a friend’s fledgling solar company, Mr. Elgheur learned all the aspects of the renewable energy business. He founded Elger Group, which includes Elger EnergySystems, in 2007.
Mr. Elgheur directs every aspect of his company’s activities, including planning, coordinating, and executing renewable energy projects. He provides financing for customers who require leasing and power purchase agreements. When he finds precious free time, Mr. Elgheur devotes his energies to expanding his knowledge base, and to pursuing various charitable and extracurricular pursuits. He takes courses in electrical engineering, integrated systems, and other energy industry-related topics at New York University, The City University of New York, and Columbia University.
Mr. Elgheur also volunteers at various New York charitable organizations and institutions, including the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and the Center for Victims of Torture. Ahmed Elgheur has a passion for custom-made Harley Davidson motorcycles and scuba diving, and is a German Shepherd Shutzhund enthusiast.
