From a young age, hockey has largely impacted my life. I've been a player, a coach, a fan, a referee, a journalist and a media contact all surrounding the sport. As a player, hockey taught me disciple, teamwork and the value of hard work. As a fan, I simply enjoyed the beauty, athleticism and skill associated with hockey. Into my coaching years, it taught me patience and really allowed me to appreciate the sport from a different viewpoint. Now, working in media relations, I can acknowledge the behind-the-scenes work and countless hours that go into the entire production.

What began as a childhood hobby grew to a lifelong passion, so much so that I hope to continue my affiliation with the sport into the future. This passion, coupled with a self-motivated, goal-oriented work ethic, will ultimately aid me along my path to realizing a career in sport management.

I currently intern with the Media Relations Department at UMass Amherst where I work closely with many of the 19 varsity sports, writing previews and recaps, conducting interviews, producing game notes and managing statistics. This internship has given me the opportunity to travel to other colleges and universities, allowing me to expand my network and increase my experience with game-day production. I have worked at the Citi Frozen Fenway, the Men's Hockey East Tournament and multiple Atlantic 10 Conference Tournaments.

In addition to gaining more work experience with my internship, I also hope to travel abroad in Sydney, Australia in the spring of 2015. There, I will have the opportunity to study Sport Management and Marketing in one of the world's most beautiful places. Traveling in Australia will mark my third excursion outside of the United States and second on a different continent. I previously traveled to Canada multiple times throughout my life, and to France as a sophomore in high school. My hope is that Australia will open me up to a world of experiences that give me great memories to cherish for the rest of my life.
