"When there is a will, there is a way." Life can be difficult but it's overcoming the challenges and obstacles that make life worth it. Since the loss of her mom, Aileen has been working her way through high school and college to reach for goals to become a teacher. She began as music education major at Campbell University but switched to early childhood education due to her interest in the growth of infants and young children since the birth of her nephews. She then transferred to North Carolina Central University to finish her degree. Even though she did not finish her music degree, she plans to emphasize music and the arts in her teaching. Clarinet is her main instrument; she performed in the middle school concert band up until her time at Campbell University in the Wind Ensemble and Cape Fear Wind Symphony. Currently she is not performing in an ensemble but plays clarinet in her free time. She enjoys the arts; music, art, theater, ballet. She was also part of the National Students of AMF organization, a support group devoted to college students grieving the illness or death of a loved one and created a chapter at Campbell University. After her undergrad career, she plans to teach for a period of time until she goes to pursue her master's degree in the arts and then work her way to her doctorate's degree.
