Aileen Walker

I worked at the UK Parliament for 30 years in a variety of public engagement, communications, research, information and change management roles. As Director of Public Engagement in the House of Commons, I led a significant increase in ambition in Parliament's public engagement and outreach services. I was responsible for Parliament's Education Service, Visitor and Retail Services, an innovative Public Engagement and Learning team, and the establishment of the Parliamentary Outreach service

I am currently working on freelance projects in the democracy/public engagement field. I am an Associate of Global Partners Governance("Strengthening representative politics") and a member of the Hansard Society Council ("Promoting parliaments, strengthening democracy").

I love the arts, theatre, cycling, travelling, and all things digital. I am a trustee at the fabulous LIFT, bringing stories of the world to London. I also have an interest in education, and have served as a school governor in a diverse inner city primary school for many years.
