Aimee Wiker
Student in Concord, New Hampshire
My name is Aimee Wiker, I was born in Hawaii (thanks to my sailor parents), but only lived there a year before moving to Michigan, which is where I grew up. Like most 18 year-olds, I too was unsure of what I wanted to do with my life, so I decided to join the Air Force in hopes of travelling the world!
That plan fell short when I ended up in landlocked Oklahoma. My first day in Oklahoma was its 21st day of 100 degree heat. I started out my adult journey in a climate shocked, friendless and lost state; but that all changed once I my co-workers. They helped me to enjoy the best parts of Oklahoma and those three years will always hold a special place in my heart.
Unfortunately, all good things must end, and that was the day I was forced to move to New Jersey. New Jersey is overcrowded, expensive, smelly and there was always garbage everywhere it shouldn’t be. However, things turned around when I met my boyfriend Nate, who convinced me to move to New Hampshire to finish my education.
I separated from the Air Force after 5 years and 9 months – 3 months early so I could return to school. I now live in Concord, NH with Nate and I attend Plymouth State University as a full-time undergraduate and am pursuing my Bachelor of Arts in Graphic Design and minoring in Marketing. I also work part-time at Dell-Lea Weddings & Events as a server and some of my favorite hobbies are drawing, photography, kayaking and hiking.
