My name is Ainslie and I am an aspiring academic. My current research asks why there have been 83 women in the Queensland Parliament over the past century. To answer this question, I am using a mixture of quantitative and qualitative data.
My main interest is the gap between women's rights and our cultural expectations. As a Sociologist, I use the work of Pierre Bourdieu to investigate this gap, exploring the use of gender as a form of capital.
When I'm not talking to past and present politicians or crunching numbers, I enjoy drinking a strong cup of tea (White, one sugar please.), while chasing my chickens and ducks around my back yard.
