Aiveen Cooper

Kildare

I am a native of County Kildare in Ireland, where I live with my husband, two children and two dogs. I studied Zoology at Trinity College Dublin and am now part of the Admissions team in NUI Maynooth.

My passion is writing, and I somehow managed to get an MSc in Science Communication while working, raising my first born and wrtiting my first book, a firsthand account of my journey along Ireland's longest river, the Shannon.

In the book, I recount stories of the river and how these are intertwined with the story of Ireland, from eels and otters, eskers and islands to ancient kings, myths and monastic settlements, from Viking raids and Napoleonic fortifications to transportation, power generation and tourism.
