Glenda "Aiwa" Florez is a Professional Polynesian Dancer and Choreographer. She started to dance as a child and has danced Professionally for more than 20 years. She has studied the art of Polynesian Dance in numerous Halau's or Hula Schools throughout the nation as well as in Europe. Most of her Hula training comes from the Ilima style of dance. She performed for The Mai-Kai Polynesian Restaurant in Ft. Lauderdale, FL for 12 years. There she learned more than Hula but also dances from Tahiti, New Zealand, and Samoa.
She developed Polynesian Dance Aerobics and taught dance fitness classes in Florida for 4 years.
She currently has her own group in Aurora, Colorado- Kalama Polynesian Dancers and Polynesian Party Planners INC. They specialize in workshops, performances (birthdays, corporate parties, weddings, etc), fresh flower leis, and fire performances. Kalama Polynesian Dancers also competes in various Polynesian Dance Competitions in the Nation.
Aiwa is also the founder of Halau Kalama- a non-profit organization who's mission is to give back to the community through song and dance the meaning of ALOHA. Aiwa teaches children, men, women the songs and dances of Hawaii, New Zealand, Tahiti, Samoa.
