Ajan Khanna

Hi, I’m Ajan Khanna – an Australian engineer and entrepreneur based in Sydney. I founded Groovy Gadgets in 2002 and have spent more than two decades designing, manufacturing and commercialising consumer products. My background is in Telecommunications Engineering, and early in my career I integrated enterprise systems for organisations including PricewaterhouseCoopers, Westpac, Optus and National Australia Bank – experience that gave me a practical, outcomes-focused approach I’ve carried into everything I’ve built since.

My most commercially successful product is the JINX Luminous Jellyfish mood lamp – over 200,000 total sales through more than 300 retailers across three countries, with applications ranging from home decor to dental clinic waiting rooms and sensory environments. I’ve also earned three Australian Promotional Products Association Best New Product awards across my portfolio and built substantial intellectual property including registered trademarks, design registrations and a pending patent.

Today, my focus is the Power Buddy PRO 2700 – an Australian-designed and Australian-made portable lithium/solar generator rated at 2,700 watts with LiFePO4 battery technology and MPPT solar charging, in the final stages of development. Outside of work, I’m a competitive sportsman who played squash for more than two decades before making table tennis my main sport in 2014 – I won the NSW Closed Table Tennis Championships in 2000 and I’m still competing. A married father of four who brings the same persistence to everything he does.
