Hi there!

I'm a born and raised city slicker from the traffic-filled streets of Richmond, B.C. I'm a fan of good food, thoughtful music and the occasional superhero movie. By day I'm an elementary school teacher and by night, I'm a youth group leader at my local church. In January of 2015, I got married to the only woman on earth that could simultaneously put up with my absent-mindedness and share in its mess. I currently hold a B.A. in Political Science and a B.Ed in Elementary Education from the University of British Columbia.

I thoroughly enjoy learning, exploring and discovering new ways to communicate understanding. I'm by no means a technology-buff, but I try my best to keep up-to-date with the most relevant, effective and useful electronic tools to further my practice and engage my students. Additionally, I view the classroom as a waiting room for life. I believe Maya Angelu said it best when she remarked:

"I've learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel."

My hope is that every one of my students would not limit their learning to classroom curriculum, but that they would see and understand the greater picture! School is not about the marks and assignments, it's about building relationships and fostering a lifelong love for learning. Education is about travelling to the stars, not simply realizing that they are there. It's about coming to conclusions and being comfortable with one's mistakes. My hope for my students is that education becomes a journey and not just a destination.
