Ajit Mathew George

Wilmington, Delaware and Virgin Gorda, British Virgin Islands

Ajit has over 40 years of experience in creative marketing and business development in many different arenas ranging from broadcasting, non-profits, resort real estate development, strategic planning and small venture capital funding. He currently serves as Founder of MidAtlantic Wine + Food Festival and as a consultant to several organizations. In addition, he is actively involved in several start-up ventures. Ajit is the organizer of TEDxWilmington.

Ajit was Managing Director of Nail Bay Resort, a luxury villa resort, in Virgin Gorda, British Virgin Islands for close to 20 years until December 2009. He was also involved in a variety of income producing investments in the Delaware Valley such as apartment complexes including affordable housing, office buildings and industrial warehouses. He also served as Chairman of Strongpoint Atlantic, a public relations and marketing company.

Prior to going into the private sector in 1980, Ajit was Director of Marketing and Membership Services for WHYY Inc. in Philadelphia, Pa. where he raised millions of dollars for public television and public radio through direct mail and on-air fund raising.

Over the years, Ajit has volunteered thousands of hours to various non-profit organizations in both the United States and the British Virgin Islands. He helped create the MidAtlantic Wine and Food Festival . Ajit was the Founding Chairman of the BVI Charitable Fund of the Community Foundation (BVI) Limited, which organized the Virgin Islands Winemakers Dinners.

Ajit was the Founding Chairman of Meals On Wheels Delaware beginning in 1989. He launched the highly successful Meals From The Masters Culinary Weekend in Delaware starting with the Meals From The Masters Celebrity Brunch in 1998 and added The Evening With The Masters and Cellar Masters Wine Auction.

He served on the Board of Directors of the BVI Tourist Board. Together with his wife, Dr. Sarah Brown, Ajit created "An Evening Of Style" for YWCA Delaware. In addition, Ajit was actively involved in developing a $3.7 million project to double the capacity of the Home Life Management Center of the YWCA of New Castle County, Delaware which assists homeless families achieve self sufficiency.

Ajit is a member of the Rotary Club of Wilmington, Delaware and a Chevalier in the First State Bailliage of the Chaíne des Rōtisseurs.
