AJ Mighton in a nut-shell:

In eighth grade, I dislocated and fractured my hip in football practice. The doctors told me that I would never run, walk or play sports again in my life. Baseball has always been what I have been most passionate about, more than football, and the idea of never playing again just wasn't going to work for me. I spent the next couple of years dedicating my hard-work and motivation to play ball again, to the doctors who told me that I would never make it. After about three years of trying as many different therapies as I could, I finally found my niche and developed the skills to be able to run, walk and play baseball again. I started varsity in high school my senior year and I currently play club baseball at BGSU. Being able to play another game on the baseball diamond was one thing, but it opened my eyes to a bigger picture; the fact that there will never be anything that I cannot do. Nothing will be as mentally, physically, or emotionally challenging as being able to suit up for another baseball game.

I love to tell this story, mainly because this is what drives me to work in the sports industry and to be the best at what I one day will do. It also demonstrates most, if not all of the characteristics I bring to the workplace. I always had the dream to play professional baseball and now because of my hip, I will never have that opportunity. If I cannot play in the pros, I want to work in the pros. This motivates me everyday, to do everything I possibly can to be the best that I possibly can, as well as to be the most successful that I possibly can. I want to go down in the books as a Hall-Of-Fame caliber sports manager and I will do what is necessary to get me there.
