Alejandro Urdiales
Artist, Director, and Project Manager in San Antonio TX
I build seasons, shepherd productions from first design meeting to closing night, and advocate for the work that challenges audiences to see themselves differently.
As Artistic Associate at San Pedro Playhouse, I sit at the intersection of artistic programming and production management — coordinating casting across 12 productions a season, leading design meetings, managing production budgets, and developing dramaturgy for classical and new work alike. My collaboration with The Classic Theatre of San Antonio has deepened my fluency in classical repertoire, particularly Shakespeare and Chekhov, where I believe rigorous textual analysis and bold production choices are never mutually exclusive.
Before moving into artistic leadership, I spent years in the room where the work actually happens — as a Stage Manager, Assistant Director, and Soundboard Operator — which means I lead with empathy for every department. I understand what it costs to get it right.
My background also includes large-scale venue operations: managing 300+ staff across the Majestic and Empire Theatres and working with SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment taught me that world-class audience experience is built on systems, relationships, and an almost obsessive attention to detail.
I hold a BFA in Performance and Production from Texas State University (Summa Cum Laude) and an AA in Drama from Northwest Vista College. I'm actively seeking Associate Producer and artistic leadership opportunities at major regional theaters where ambitious programming and rigorous production infrastructure go hand in hand.
Let's make something worth watching.
