Since 1996, Akanimo Udofia has served as the managing director and CEO of Desicon Engineering Limited in Lagos, Nigeria. He has worked in Nigeria’s oil and gas industry for over a quarter of a century and utilizes that experience to sustain business growth for Desicon’s engineering, procurement, and construction services. With more than $10 billion in projects completed over the past decade, Akanimo Udofia has built extensive relationships between Desicon and several international oil corporations. He continues to oversee strategic planning and operational efficiency, ensuring the company remains on a profitable course of development.
In the early ‘90s, Akanimo Udofia acted as a senior business manager for Vision 2000 Limited. There, he handled the provision and compliance review of safety and security systems used by clients in Nigeria. During the early years of his tenure with Desicon Engineering, he also held a position as a consortium partner of Stolt-Bouygues Offshore. He negotiated contracts for Stolt-Bouygues to service oil and gas wells in Nigerian territory and put in place a business strategy that boosted profits by 23 percent.
Committed to helping Nigerians living in disadvantaged communities access essential health and hygiene resources, Akanimo Udofia finances the yearly Akan Udofia Roots Medical Mission and donates to the Akwa Ibom Water Project. He graduated from the University of Uyo with a bachelor’s degree in business administration and attended Harvard Business School to complete its Senior Executive Program.
