Axl Gessner

Raised in a musical household his entire life, Axl is no stranger to the life of a working musician. Some of his earliest, fondest, memories are from being brought along to band rehearsals by his father when he was a baby. By the time he was in pre-school, his charisma and love of music would leave a lasting impression on those around him. Even at such a young age, it became obvious there would soon be a new kid on the block... Fast-forward a decade later...

After picking up his first bass at age 11 and spending the next few years 'shedding away to his favorite players such as Felix Hannemann (Zebra), Geddy Lee (Rush), and Billy Sheehan (Mr. Big), Axl hit the scene at 14 with his first couple garage bands and hasn't left the spotlight since. At 15, he helped co-write the Rabid Savage single "Blood Scent", alongside lead singer Jake Raflik. It garnered a cult following among his peers and earned him a little more respect in the school hallway... It was around this time he started picking up a guitar to further his already outstanding musical voice.

He finally found a home in June 2012, joining one of Central Wisconsin's most popular Hard Rock bands: Surrender Dorothy. Originally bringing the band from a 5 piece to a 6 man lineup, he brought in fresh blood and new ideas that would revitalize one of the areas best drawing acts. In November of that year, he took over all lead guitar duties.

Now working on a self-titled demo due out this summer, the aXeman's working on several projects to further along his growing reputation locally, regionally, and beyond.
