Dr Aniz Khalfan graduated from the University of Aberdeen, Scotland in 1981 after having being accepted straight out of high school on a full scholarship. Amongst her various achievements at medical school were obtaining 1st Class Certificates in Physiology and Biochemistry.

With a passion for Anaesthesiology Dr Khalfan pursued specialization in the United Kingdom and then Canada at the University of British Columbia. Aniz is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physician and Surgeons of Canada which she was granted in 1992.

Dr Khalfan presently practices as Staff Anaesthesilogist with Providence Health Care at Mount St Joseph Hospital, Vancouver.
She previously held the position of Chief of Anaesthesia at St Mary’s Hospital in Vancouver.

With a long and successful career in hospital medicine Aniz decided to pursue her passion for chronic pain. Toward this end she was honoured with a grant from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons in 2013.

Aniz joined CHANGEpain Clinic when it first opened in May 2013 She delivers CpC’s Core program and is also accredited for the IV lidocaine and Ketamine infusions in the clinics Pain Infusion Program.

Dr Khalfan is very involve in teaching and the community.

She is an Examiner for the Medical Council of Canada.

She has held various leadership positions for the Agakhan Health Board of BC as well as being a member and website editor of the Rotary Club of West Vancouver.

With a daughter now at Medical School and a son transitioning to University, Dr Khalfan is looking to enjoying some time with her husband in their shared passion for the arts and culture and reconnecting with her roots in Kenya in supporting health and eduction there
