Akon Ekpo, Ph.D.

As an Assistant Professor of Marketing at Rutgers University in Camden, New Jersey, I research consumers' use of information technologies (i.e., mobile, social media, the Internet) to navigate the marketplace. I teach Digital Marketing Strategy, Digital Marketing Analysis, & Consumer Analysis. I use my knowledge of marketing strategy to teach undergrad & graduate students how to cultivate their personal brands in this 2.0 world.

My research has appeared in the Journal of Public Policy & Marketing & Journal of Business Research; Marketing Theory, and, has been presented at the Association of Consumer Research, Consumer Culture Research, Transformative Consumer Research, Cross Cultural Consumer Research, and Marketing & Public Policy conferences. Prior to joining the faculty at Rutgers, I worked in corporate in the information technology industry for 10 years developing consumer and commercial software products. I currently serve on the board of directors for the K.E.Y.A. Foundation and am a member of several professional organizationsm such as the American Marketing Association, National Black MBA Association, Association for Consumer Research, and Philly Ad Club.
