Akosua Akoto
Born and raised in Washington DC, immersed in the culture of West African dance as an art form, science, and way of life.... Dancing since birth, Akosua Akoto made her first appearance on the stage at age three with Memory of African Culture. Throughout high school, Akosua instructed weekly adult and children dance classes and co-choreographed annual concerts for youth and adult dance organizations. She continues to perform and teach dance nationally and internationally. She earned a bachelor’s degree in Sports Medicine from Howard University, Personal trainer's Certification from the American Council of Exercise (ACE), and a Group Dance Exercise Instructor Certification with Kukuwa Dance Workout. And will be pursuing a Master's Degree in Physical Therapy. She has had the privilege of working with and attributes her continuous development in the art and culture that is African dance to numerous world renowned dancers and choreographers as well as her family. She believes in and works to encourage and perpetuate whole health and wellness through movement.
