Amanda LaFountaine

Social Media Manager, Mother, and customer service specialist in Wilmington, North Carolina

Hey there, I’m Amanda. I'm a work-from-home mother of two little goobers. I absolutely love the freedom remote working gives me. I have more time for my kids and I never have to worry about spending more than what I make on a babysitter or day care center.

I have been working in the customer service industry since I was 14 years old working at Cold Stone Creamery. Ever since, I have loved helping customers make decisions and help them find creative solutions to their problems.

After being in the Food & Beverage industry for a while, I decided I wanted to get into the Hospitality Industry. This quickly became one of my favorite positions because I got to know my customers more than I had ever before. I started putting my creative ideas into play while working at the Hilton Garden Inn. I saw that housekeepers just weren't making tips from people that were staying there, and knowing how hard we worked it was a major let down. I came up with an idea to start leaving notes for guests; I would write something to cheer them up after a long business day, or I would write something funny to make them giggle. I would write inspirational quotes and fun facts of the day. I just wanted to engage with our guests, after all, I was in their room cleaning up after them. My guests started to appreciate this and would leave me quirky responses and much more in tips. One time, after a man and his two kids stayed for one night only, he left me a $100 tip and highlighted how thoughtful it was for me to leave a note.

For me, it is just the little things that can make a person's day that much better and that is what I strive to do. I wake up in the morning and I want to make someone's life better. I want to be able to say that I put that smile on my customer's face.

Although Customer Happiness has always been my niche, I did get into other things for a while as well. I was a social media moderator, a personal assistant, and I did research and development for my company.

I am also currently taking courses at Free Code Camp to learn Full Stack Web Development. So far, I know HTML, CSS, Bootstrap, and jQuery pretty well.
Unfortunately, I do not have much to show for it at the moment as I am working on a couple of the projects right now, but I will post them when I finish them.

So, now that you know how incredibly awesome I am and my drive for learning new things, you can go ahead and click that "Hire me" button at the top of this page! :)
