My name is Alain Saffel and I live in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. I’ve had a few different careers in my time on this planet. I’ve been an accountant, journalist and now work in Internet marketing (I run an Edmonton SEO company).
I believe in education; I have a diploma in accounting and a bachelor of journalism (majored in PR) to back that up. I’m afraid if I go for a master’s degree I’ll be completely unemployable.
I enjoy writing, reading, politics and debate. I’m a bit of a news junkie and I love current events. I want to travel, but haven’t done much outside of Canada (yet). If I’m not listening to CBC, I’m probably reading something from my mountain of books, or maybe even out taking photos. I harbour a romantic notion that I might become a pro photographer someday. (The background is my photo of Mt. Robson, an hour west of Jasper Alberta. One of my favourite places.)
I love the outdoors, but never get out enough. Finally, after about 20 years, I got my motorcycle license and bought an Aprilia Scarabeo scooter. I love it. Next I plan to get a Kawasaki KLR 650 and explore the backroads of B.C. (where I grew up), taking photos of what I discover.
