Alan C. Thomas

Alan C. Thomas, the author of three books (FLASHBACK: Vietnam; FLASHING BACK; and STINGRAY) is retired from the U.S. Navy and a not for profit Foundation, where he served as the Manager, Environmental Health Programs for twenty years.

From 1967 to 1970, Alan C. Thomas served on active duty as a U.S. Navy Hospital Corpsman.

During his time on active duty, he served in three naval hospitals. He was also stationed on a submarine tender and deployed on the battlefield in Vietnam with detachments of the 3rd and 5th Divisions of the U.S. Marine Corps. After returning from active duty and serving in the Naval Reserves, he was honorably discharged with the rank of Hospital Corpsman, Master Chief.Alan C. Thomas received his Bachelor of Science in Environmental Health degree in 1976.

A Life Member of the Disabled American Veterans (DAV), Alan demonstrates the challenges he has faced in dealing with life changing trauma and learning how to heal from the resulting Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) by writing about his experiences through Rob Thomas, who is the protagonist of his three books. FLASHBACK: Vietnam COVER-UP: PTSD and FLASHING BACK: Choosing to live with or die from PTSD deal with the long-term effects of post-traumatic stress disorder, and how the condition impacts the sufferer and their family. His third book, STINGRAY:The Russians Are Listening is based on his experience of being entwined in the midst of an espionage operation and that life changing trauma in 1980.

Today, Alan focuses his energy on promoting his books through his website at, book signing events, and media interviews.
