Alan Hartless (he/him)
Husband, Father, and Software Engineering Leader in Houston, Texas
Howdy! I'm Alan, a native Virginian who moved to Houston, Texas in '07. I love to help people and I love technology. I started my career as a registered nurse while learning to code PHP as a hobby. After 7 years in nursing, I somehow found myself a founding engineer of Mautic, the first open-source marketing automation software. We released 1.0.0 in 2015 and were acquired by Acquia in 2019.
I'm currently serving as a software engineering manager at Khan Academy on a mission “to provide a free, world‑class education for anyone, anywhere.”
In my free time, I'm focused on my husband, two kids, and three cats with a little bit of free time in between to read or listen to books, write code, and play Minecraft with the kids.
