I am the CEO of Coventry Independent Advice Service. The charity offers free advice, information and support on social security benefits, debt and other social welfare issues.

I am also Chair of the National Association of Welfare Rights Advisers (NAWRA), the membership body for social welfare advice providers across the UK.

I have worked in the advice sector for over 30 years. I was previously Head of Citizens Advice Specialist Support (Welfare Benefits), leading a team providing second-tier consultancy support to all Citizens Advice offices in England & Wales alongside the development and delivery of a national training programme.

I have also been editor of ‘Adviser’ magazine, Citizens Advice flagship social welfare periodical, managed a neighbourhood advice centre in Coventry, worked as a Welfare Rights Officer in Sunderland and been a CAB volunteer.

I spends my spare time with music (not playing so much these days, mainly listening to vinyl), watching films, too many TV series, some reading, travelling, socialising and supporting the one and only Sunderland football club! 🐈‍⬛
