Horse Riding Instructor and Jump Coach in College Place
Hello! My name is Alanna and I am a Horse Riding Instructor and Jump Coach in the Walla Walla valley.
About Me
I grew up riding and training for Eventing. My passion was always in the training of horses through the levels on the flat and over fences. Through the United States Pony Club, I was able to progress my riding and Horsemanship. I graduated with my 'C2' Level Evening Certification and Horse Management ‘B’ Level, upper level and national level certifications.
Additionally, I furthered my education as a working student where I honed skills for in-hand training, and Classical French Dressage.
I currently teach for the local Walla Walla Pony Club weekly.
I enjoy helping riders through the bio-mechanics of riding – how rider and horse can best support each other.
Teaching
I have been instructing in the art of riding for 6 years, riders ages 7-60 beginners to intermediate. I take the rider and horse that I have for a lesson and we work on accomplishing small goals that equal the large sum over time. My specialties are in English riding, but I am happy to teach riders in western saddles, bareback, or in groundwork.
Yes, you will need your own horse and tack for lessons. I do not have lesson horses available.
– Beginners/Intermediate (General Riding and/or horsemanship)
– Show Jumping/Jumpers
– Classical Dressage
– Groundwork (leading, round pen, liberty, lounging)
– Cross country (limited access in WW)
– In-hand (riding exercises from the ground)
– Basics of: Vaulting, polocrosse, gaming, trail, Western and Hunt seat equitation
I encourage students to commit to practicing elements from lessons in their own riding time between lessons if they would like to progress towards their goals.
What I enjoy most about working with my students is in assisting them to become more confident, aware, and better connected with their equine partners.
Safety is important to me! I am in the business of preventing accidents and injuries in my students and their horses. All students under 18 must wear a helmet while I teach them. All students jumping must wear a helmet regardless of age or experience during my lessons.
