I was born at home on the outskirts of Oxford in 1950. I grew up in Kelvedon, Essex, from the age of two. I have lived in the US for more than half my life now.
What academic career? I never recovered from the 11+ until I earned an associates degree in occupational therapy. What can one do with 'O' levels in English, Geography and Music?
My checkered work life (no career) includes hand brick-making, postman, small offset press operator, British Rail crossing-keeper, taxi driver briefly in Los Angeles of all places, physical therapy technician/aide, working with developmentally challenged adults in group home and workshop settings, book-shop assistant.
In my own time I have sung in choirs (religious and secular), was a Cub Scout assistant leader, a sacristan, am still a bell-ringer of the full circle method and principle variety (one of those skills like cycling one never forgets), an amateur actor in community theatres, did a lot of cycling and walking in my youth and early adulthood. And I pass the time reading, playing music on almost anything that makes a musical noise, watching TV (in moderation) and spending way too much time on Blipfoto.
Just read a profile that lists personality type as per Carl Jung and Myers/Briggs: it's been a while INFP. A note about the profile picture, a self-portrait I made in 2011, I don't usually wear hats.
