Since 2018, Alan Stinson of Redwood City, CA, has been involved in the construction industry, when he joined the JobTrain Construction Fundamentals Pre-Apprentice Training Program in Redwood City, CA. For the next several months, he maintained perfect attendance in the program and learned about construction fundamentals including flagging, traffic control, and hazardous waste removal. The program also taught Alan Stinson about basic building tools and materials.

Mr. Stinson refocused his career on the construction industry after working in healthcare, retail, and customer service for nearly 15 years. Six years of that time was spent working for Children’s Hospital Boston as a shipping and receiving specialist and, later, medical gas technician. He was responsible for tasks such as maintaining medical gas cylinder records and delivering supplies to different hospital departments.

The remainder of Mr. Stinson’s career was spent with TJ Maxx, Munchery, Pottery Barn, and SDI Insulation. At TJ Maxx and Pottery Barn, he respectively held the positions of receiving clerk and stock clerk. These roles tasked him with setting up displays and providing customer service, when necessary. His experience with customers continued as a food delivery person for Munchery, and in working delivery and clean-up for SDI Insulation. These positions involved more direct contact with customers and taught him about providing professional customer service.
