Alan Watson Featherstone

Public Speaker, Photographer, and Writer in Findhorn, United Kingdom

Welcome! I am an inspirational public speaker, ecologist, nature photographer and writer based in the Findhorn Community in the northeast of Scotland. In 1986 I founded the award-winning conservation charity, Trees for Life, which works to restore the Caledonian Forest in the Scottish Highlands. I care deeply about our planet, and have dedicated my life to protecting its biological diversity and sharing the beauty and wonders of the natural world through my photographs, talks and writing.

I can deliver inspiring and stimulating talks on a wide range of subjects, including:

* the ecology of the Caledonian Forest and the practical work needed to help restore it

* a large scale vision of the 21st century becoming the Century of Restoring the Earth

* the changes need in individual lifestyles & human culture for rewilding to be implemented on a large scale

* what it means to be indigenous, & why we all need to live as indigenous to Planet Earth

* the ecology of the unique Araucaria (monkey puzzle tree) forests of the Andes in Chile & Argentina, & the threats they are facing

* Tropical rainforests - their ecological importance, diversity, geographic variations & threats they are facing

* the ecology of mangrove forests, threatened tidal forests of the tropics

* details of many elements of the Caledonian Forest, from fungi and lichens to plant galls, slime moulds and aphids - I can do a specific presentation on each of these

* the power to make a positive difference - how we can each find our personal power to make a meaningful positive contribution in the world

All of these are accompanied by my own high quality photographs.
