Alasdair Thompson

New Zealand

I am Alasdair Thompson, a 66 year old businessman, married with two adult children and four grandchildren, came from a farming background, became an accountant, studied economics and gained a post graduate diploma in public policy.

I was a three term mayor of the Thames-Coromandel District, a director of Power New Zealand Ltd, commissioner of the Waikato Area Health Board and CEO of New Zealand’s Employers and Manufactures Association.

In 2011 I was the subject of an international media furore for saying that some women’s productivity and income is affected by difficult menstruation; a truth I was internationally pilloried for speaking about.

It was a Life Changing experience for me, about which I have written a book due for publication in October 2013.
