I am the oldest of four sisters, but I've spent most of my life only knowing two of them.
Although I had many cousins around my age growing up, before my sister Kaiya was born I begged my parents for a sibling. Once my wish finally came true after eight years, I was the happiest girl in the world. We quickly became best friends despite our age gap. Later on, my youngest sister Dallas came along. It's always been just the three of us… So I thought…
We recently met our sister Britain, literally seven days ago. Our dad told us about her a couple years back and it was the most shocking news I've ever received. After explaining everything, the most surprising part was that she is 18 years old, just one year younger than I am. After hearing this, before anything I immediately thought of little five year old me so desperately wanting a companion close to my age.
Fast forward to seven days ago, Britain flew to Atlanta from Dallas, Texas to finally meet us! Since I had already left to move in on campus here at UGA, she and my dad drove here so we could spend time together. We couldn't do much because she recently was diagnosed with Cerebral Edema which is swelling of the brain. This limits her from being in the heat and excess walking (two out of the many things Athens, GA is known for). Instead, we bonded over our shared interests and learned that we are very different. Although her stay was short, I am elated that I got to finally meet her.
