Alioune Badara Diop
Chevening Scholar in Aberdeen, Scotland, United Kingdom
Welcome !
My name is Alioune Badara DIOP, a Senegalese legal professional currently pursuing an LLM in Energy Economics and Law as a Chevening Scholar at the University of Aberdeen Law School.
From December 2018 to August 2024, I had the privilege of serving as Legal and Governance Manager at Groupe Afrika S.A., a prominent financial institution headquartered in Dakar, Senegal, with extensive operations in Abidjan (Ivory Coast), Bamako (Mali), and Conakry (Guinea). My role encompassed the critical responsibility of ensuring compliance with the legal and regulatory frameworks governing the financial activities of the group across these diverse jurisdictions.
I am bilingual in English and French, and I hold a Master’s degree in Economic and Business Law, obtained in 2017 from Gaston Berger University, Senegal. Under the guidance of Professor Moussa THIOYE (Toulouse 1 Capitole University, France), my research focused on the complexities of public limited companies within the OHADA legal framework.
In 2019, I was honoured to become the first Senegalese national to be admitted to and graduate from the prestigious National Training Academy of Egypt. There, I participated in the African Presidential Leadership Programme, an intensive eight-week initiative sponsored by the President of the African Union, designed to cultivate the leadership potential of Africa’s most promising young professionals.
My commitment to community service is evidenced by my long-standing involvement with Junior Chamber International (JCI). I have been a dedicated member since 2014 and played a foundational role in establishing JCI Saint-Louis in 2015. I had the honour of serving as Local President in 2018 and as National Executive President of JCI Senegal in 2023. My contributions to JCI have been recognised with the distinction of Phil Pugsley Patron of the JCI Foundation, and I am a proud Global Networker, having graduated from the 35th JCI Academy in Odawara, Japan, in 2022.
On a personal note, I have been married since 2020 and am the proud father of a young son. I actively engage with the broader community through social media under the pseudonym @albadaradi, where I maintain a following of:
